  相當有趣! 看起來投 SIAM computing 很不划算, IF 和 JACM 比起來差了 0.88, 但是審稿時間卻好像沒差 XD (事情當然不是這樣看的 XD) 不過 CS journal 的審稿速度真的要再加速一點, 這被人詬病很久了.

  過去十年間，學者觀測了宇宙的大規模結構和宇宙微波背景輻射（cosmic microwave background radiation，意即大爆炸後殘存的餘暉），而觀測結果也都指出宇宙中大部分的能量仍未被偵測到。現在天文學界普遍相信，宇宙中大約有73%的能量都投入在「宇宙加速」中；這些力量也就是大家所稱的暗能量（dark energy），目前我們仍所知甚少。英國卡地夫大學（Cardiff University）的天文物理學者彼得．寇爾斯（Peter Coles）說：「我們發現的到底是什麼，沒人能確定。」

  They are more than 2000 but there is neither a single zoologist (maybe one will get there soon, but just one) nor a single botanist. There are lots of medical doctors and lots of molecular and cell biologists. Just a couple of ecologists. This means that there are not only top scientists, there are also top disciplines. If you are good you work in medicine or in molecular or cell biology. The rest is crap. Can we really afford such a narrow focus on the life sciences?

• 又一個大師掛掉了.....嗚呼。John McCarthy 是人工智慧的大頭, 發明了 Lisp。對很多 Functional Programming 和 AI 的迷 來說，應該是很沈痛的損失吧。
